About

Jon Prial is our Director of Market Insights and a member of the Georgian Impact team. His focus is on market and competitive analysis, and he works with our portfolio companies on due diligence, market analysis for thesis development and strategic planning. He also regularly partners with our Investment Team on new opportunities and due diligence, looking at markets, market adjacencies and competition.

Jon has a strong interest in privacy and governance, and is skilled in market research, business development and strategy. He’s also a key contributor to our investment thesis work and the host of The Impact Podcast, which has been heard by thousands of entrepreneurs around the world since its launch in 2015.

Experience

Jon joined Georgian Partners in 2010, following a 32-year career at IBM. While there, he led the marketing strategy and initial execution for IBM’s entrée into the Linux market. In addition, he held executive positions in sales, business development and marketing in IBM’s Pervasive Computing Division. Jon also led the development of the company’s Information on Demand strategy and ran the Enterprise Content Management unit, driving the $1.6 billion acquisition of FileNet Corporation, including the corresponding integration strategy.

Jon also served on the board of directors for WAP Forum, driving the strategy for the transition to the Open Mobile Alliance.

Education

Jon holds a BS in mathematics and an MS in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is also an Adjunct Professor of Executive Education at Northeastern University, where he teaches a class on how to sell technology to C-level executives.
